Las Terrenas – Village 2
IDAMAR is taking completely new, yet surprisingly traditional paths with the building design of Village 2 in the Dominican Republic. The building design reveals a contemporary reinterpretation of the circular dwelling of the Taino, the indigenous people of the Caribbean that Columbus encountered in 1492.
Because this symbol of unity and balance takes center stage, it creates a striking but harmonious contrast to the natural surroundings. This coexistence of nature, tradition and people leads to a unique feeling of connection to the origins of the connection between people and nature, without having to forego the respectful presence of contemporary luxury.
Apartment buildings
Architecturally, the building design features circular roofs that slope elegantly toward the center of each building. These roofs are not only thoughtfully designed for their aesthetic appeal but also fulfill a functional role. This innovative design integrates a central concrete core that serves as a rainwater collection system, contributing to our commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly living.
Lush green spaces, water features and green landscapes fit seamlessly into the circular shape. In addition, our project includes an intelligent water management system designed to deal with heavy rainfall. This system directs rainwater through depressions planted with reeds and bamboo, ultimately leading to a network of natural pools at the bottom of the site.
Apartments
They consist of a series of interconnected circular units, each strategically positioned to provide residents with pleasant views and a pleasant atmosphere. The circular buildings face east to capture the prevailing winds and thus reduce humidity. The bedrooms face north-east, allowing the morning sun to shine, while the living rooms face north-west, providing a cool and comfortable environment throughout the day, as well as perfect views of the sunsets.
For added comfort and utility, a concrete shelter has been carefully integrated on the -1 level, ensuring the comfort and safety of residents.
